FJ Cruiser Club Australia - WA Chapter, Powerlines Track and Nganguring Rd Surroundings

Yet another great day out with fellow FJ Cruiser Club members. We went out to explore few tracks around Nganguring road and return via famous Powerline track. There were seven FJ Cruisers with various level of modifications including a stock 2013 model.
Meeting at Flynn Rd
A nice rocky section where we had a bit of play. Even the bare stock 2013 didn't have troubles whatsoever (see dashcam video below, the white one I was driving behind).
Watch a short video of this rock climbing action
We stopped for lunch near a small lake just off the powerline track
Below is a 12 minutes video of that day's highlights

FJ Cruiser Club Australia - WA Chapter, Powerlines Track Mundaring Night Run

Joined few fellow FJ Cruiser Club members on this Saturday night run. The chosen track was the famous Mundaring Powerlines. We did it in reverse starting from Flynn Rd and running East-West to Tank Hill Rd.
We met an hour before dusk for a catch up on latest mods and accessories. The night drive changed the perception quite a lot and although I did this track earlier it appears entirely different this time.

Few of us at muster point
Having a chat and waiting for the sun to go down
A quick stop for a photo

These are highlights of the night

FJ Cruiser Club Australia - WA Chapter Monthly Meeting, Dwellingup

As per a good tradition December 2013 FJ Cruiser Club WA Chapter meeting was no exception, great turnout and lot of fun.
This time the chosen location was Dwellingup surroundings or more precisely the first half of famous Captain Fawcett Memorial Track. Rainy weather for previous two days made the track really fun with countless numbers of mud holes.

On the way to Dwellingup stopped shortly at the lake Banksiadale dam
At muster point on Sunday morning
Driving through the forest along Murray River
Stop for lunch at Murray River
There was a bit of river crossing action too

Here are couple of videos from my dashboard camera:
Part 1 shows highlights of driving through Dwellingup State Forest.
Part 2 are highlights of few steep ascents and descents we hit after crossing Murray River.

Camping at Wandina Station Western Australia

This year we were almost a month late for our wild-flowers touring. To make it even worse, a 6 years long low rainfall in WA's northern wheatbelt region took its toll on quantity and variety of wildflowers. Our destination this year was Wandina Station, located approximately 75km north of Mullewa. Last 6 months the place was managed by new owners who put a tremendous effort to clean it up after the take over. It was a right thing to do as the station's property of a 240 000 acre includes few amazing gifts of nature. There are several beautiful spots to visit which are equally attractive to both road travellers and 4WD-ers.
Early morning, our roof top tent and the rest of things packed up and ready to go...
Niki is having fun with a piece of old farm machinery while we were resting in Dalwallinu town's park...
Maya finally met the small town that she shares the same name with...
War Rock had some flowers still blooming when we arrived...
Harvesting was full on at a near by farm...
Meeting The Rusty...
We stopped for lunch near Mullewa before heading North via Carnarvon-Mullewa Rd. Just past a local mine, after about 50km, we hit a well maintained dirt road toward Wandina Station
Further up north after next 20km, we turned left onto a local track to Wandina Station. The turn off was very well signposted and can't be missed.
At arrival we were quite surprised how clean and well maintained the station homestead and surrounding were. They had like a small zoo with so many birds and small animals to see and interact with. Niki was having a great time.
A couple of kangaroos got trapped while stealing the food from goats
A little one was so desperate to make it over the fence but just kept hitting it head-on instead
After a short introduction into the station's recent history by our hosts Kylie and Hucksy, we've been given a hand drawn map showing the place for camping and other must-see things around.
We supposed to camp at Drovers Pool which was just 15km SW of the homestead. We were only visitors that day so had the entire place just for ourselves.
Our camp spot for the night...
Niki was into fishing right away...
Magical outback night sky...
Before leaving the station we wanted to visit Tallering Peak as well, which was another 15 SE of homestead. There were no tracks straight from Drovers Pool so we had to drive back to the homestead first. The effort paid off as driving on the rims of Tallering Peak was really awesome and at moments breathtaking.

If plan to travel this way make sure to allow at least a night to stay at this magical place. It is well worth visiting.
