Camping at Wandina Station Western Australia

This year we were almost a month late for our wild-flowers touring. To make it even worse, a 6 years long low rainfall in WA's northern wheatbelt region took its toll on quantity and variety of wildflowers. Our destination this year was Wandina Station, located approximately 75km north of Mullewa. Last 6 months the place was managed by new owners who put a tremendous effort to clean it up after the take over. It was a right thing to do as the station's property of a 240 000 acre includes few amazing gifts of nature. There are several beautiful spots to visit which are equally attractive to both road travellers and 4WD-ers.
Early morning, our roof top tent and the rest of things packed up and ready to go...
Niki is having fun with a piece of old farm machinery while we were resting in Dalwallinu town's park...
Maya finally met the small town that she shares the same name with...
War Rock had some flowers still blooming when we arrived...
Harvesting was full on at a near by farm...
Meeting The Rusty...
We stopped for lunch near Mullewa before heading North via Carnarvon-Mullewa Rd. Just past a local mine, after about 50km, we hit a well maintained dirt road toward Wandina Station
Further up north after next 20km, we turned left onto a local track to Wandina Station. The turn off was very well signposted and can't be missed.
At arrival we were quite surprised how clean and well maintained the station homestead and surrounding were. They had like a small zoo with so many birds and small animals to see and interact with. Niki was having a great time.
A couple of kangaroos got trapped while stealing the food from goats
A little one was so desperate to make it over the fence but just kept hitting it head-on instead
After a short introduction into the station's recent history by our hosts Kylie and Hucksy, we've been given a hand drawn map showing the place for camping and other must-see things around.
We supposed to camp at Drovers Pool which was just 15km SW of the homestead. We were only visitors that day so had the entire place just for ourselves.
Our camp spot for the night...
Niki was into fishing right away...
Magical outback night sky...
Before leaving the station we wanted to visit Tallering Peak as well, which was another 15 SE of homestead. There were no tracks straight from Drovers Pool so we had to drive back to the homestead first. The effort paid off as driving on the rims of Tallering Peak was really awesome and at moments breathtaking.

If plan to travel this way make sure to allow at least a night to stay at this magical place. It is well worth visiting.
